With respect to federal law, it is significant to note that the United States Supreme Court in Michigan Department of State Police v. Sitz (1990) upheld the constitutionality of sobriety checkpoints concluding that the degree of intrusion upon individual motorists who are briefly stopped, weigh in favor of the state?s interest in preventing drunk driving. Although sobriety checkpoints are viewed as constitutional on federal grounds, whether sobriety checkpoints are allowed at all depends upon the individual laws and constitutions in each state.
Nothing has taken away more rights and shit on the constitution than the insane rights grabbing done in the name of the "war on drugs" by the leaders of this country. They essentially wiped their ass with the constitution to justify destroying the 4th amendment.
