Have you ever left the door slightly open as a tester? I mean ever mentioned in passing the possiblity that you two could get together?

Also, will you be with her tonight? Drunk and or happy with a girl that is a friend on new year's eve may allow you two some conversation time.

I guess, I would start by taking a small risk, and suggesting it to see if there is a response to it. If there seems to be, try to ease into talking about it more.

I think you would be able to tell if you poked around a the subject a little. I think most people will push along an idea if it is one that they have secretly hoped for. Good Luck with her!
