That's exactly why you should try FWMX - it has all the vector tools you'll need (and ways to combine objects), and you also get tools such as eraser, blur, smudge etc etc. Everything well organized and accessible in one or two clicks.

For those who mentioned Photoshop effects, open fireworksMX, go to Edit/Preferences/Folders, and there you can import PS effects (Photoshop Plugins setting).

For someone above who mentioned adobe.com site - it's nothing special from what I see, the most attractive part was made in MACROMEDIA flash, those dropdown menus can be easily made in FW, and the rest can be even notepad (not to mention DW).

For webdesign - macromedia rules.
We're not doing print work, billboards and whatnot.
