I'm thinking of www.directnic.com which at $15/domain is $660. I like their registry lock feature, which blocks all transfers (and thus blocks illegal transfers so no hackers can steal my domains.) Are there better and/or cheaper alternatives I should try?

When I hit 60+ I opened a TUCOWS reseller account for $95 US, then registered the domains at $10 USD / each. Can also resell SSL certificates, email, DNS all under your own brand through the API and can spin off your domain names into other accounts.
Can't do any of that with DirectNIC... they are good, but not THAT good or worth the $15/month comapred to TUCOWS (#2 for domain registration volume under netsol).
