Another alternative would be to open up a US-Dollar account with American Express in your country. They usually accept US cheques and keep your balance in US. You just withdraw the money whenever the exchange rate is favourable for you. Plus they pay good interest on your balanace ....

So lets say i get a bank in Florida? Do i call them? Do i have to visit them the first time?
