Yes, I do know how the music world works. Does that mean it cannot be re-invented.
People used to do all there shopping in a local shop, but someone re-invented it, so now we shop in supermarkets.
There is no reason at all why it cannot work.
All I have heard is "it cannot be done", "boo hoo I cannot make it work", well fine, if you cannot make it work, stand to one side as I know there will be people reading this who can make it work.
Most negative posts are full of 'barriers', such as "you need lots of cash", no more than you do with porn. I am sure many small bands would be happy to sell there music this way.
"There are big sites doing this", sure, last time I heard, they were owned by big firms, and so defeats the object.
What many of you are thinking, is selling big artists, well forget that - that's big time stuff. I am thinking of the small groups that would never normally get signed up. At very least, buy a decent mini disc, record the group with it, then convert it to MP3 files. Then set up a site for them, a few pics, info on them, and a way to sell there songs. OK you may not get rich, but its not an expensive setup.
If you think the rules are against you, then change them.
If you want to follow the rules, then, to be honest, 'get the f*ck out of porn', because to make it in porn, you have to invent and re-invent each and every day. Perhaps that's why porn is so dull, and every f*cking web site looks the same.
Sorry to get nasty, but I get so dammed fed up with people who can only see problems, but cannot solve them. I am only interested in solutions.
