"you wouldn't know you ever lived to be concerned with what you felt" - but the whole point is that NOW, I am alive, and NOW I am concerned with it.
I make decisions every day that I will have completely and utterly forgotten in a few years. Still, that doesn't mean that they are meaningless at the moment of taking them.
From an objective perspective, what you think or feel before death is indeed a moot point. However, humans are subjective beings living in their own little subjective world, and what is important to them is whatever they feel is important. Objective reality doesn't have to have anything to do with that.
