they had an interruptor cam on the propellor shaft that 'interrupted' the firing mechanism (at least that's what ww1 planes did)

several of the ww2 era aircraft however mounted the forward firing guns outside of the propeller arc, so it wasn't an issue.

the original planes in ww1 sometimes just put metal plates on the back of the propellers to deflect the bullets... lol.



however, these pictures are just dumb, as is this thread. they prove nothing and provide correlation with each other.
