Just my from an outsider wannabe insider.

I joined this board (and a couple of others) to learn from you, the industry leaders, what is necessary to succeed. As you can tell, my post count is small (I know, its pathetic). Mainly because there are very few posts worth commenting and too many alt-nics fuckin' with the rest.

So far, y'all have mentioned 'a place to do business'. Where? I see few business related topics. Only a few are related to traffic, new programs, or new content, much less educational information for a newbie or medium-skilled webmaster.

You mention having 24/7 moderation. It's not feasible to have someone policing one forum for threads/topics that are not relevant or outdated. Old posts (one to 12 months old) are easy to archive. Off-topic posts would require a team of moderators to attack the constant barage.

You mention paying for membership. I have no problem paying for access to your knowledge base, if I get value for my investment. Meaning the topics are relevant and the replies are helpful. Who is going to make that call?

I am not pointing the fickle finger of fate at any one person. I am guilty on at least two counts of irrelevant posts. The remainder, however, have been attempts to contribute.

It doesn't matter to me what 'official' message board I use to educate myself and to offer assistance to others, as long as it is beneficial. Unfortunately, all the message boards I have seen thus far are suffering the same.

Maybe we should restrict membership to actual webmasters, site administrators, and company owners rather than accepting surfers lookin' for free content to spam the news groups. We already have the traffic/trading forum. On the boards I have moderated in the past, there were specific moderators for specific forums. Maybe we should create one forum for graphic designers, programmers, content providers, etc., to discuss relevant topics only, and a general forum for posting 'show your tits'. Each forum would have one to three moderators responsible for maintaining order; Locking, deleting, editing threads, requesting user bans, etc.

Note: I said 'we' because, in spite of the comments that members with low post counts should be ignored, I consider my self part of this organization and would like to become successful in this industry.

Again, this is just my $.02.
