There isn't anything that you can't put the spin on to make it out the opposite way it happened. If at some point they do find out that it really was people in our own government that were behind it... well, that could get sticky for their families.

Native Americans regularly out maneuvered the trained US Cavalry so don't think that some guy in a cave couldn't do it in this day and age.
