Some of you may be quite fast but can the web server send you the info that fast?.... or are such lines best for homes/businesses with several users at once?

My friend has a 1mbit connection and I can DEFINATLY tell the difference in speed on page loads and such. I download files like videos and such at around 300 to 360 k so I'm assuming that's as fast as the server can get it to me.
