My Father-in-law had a problem with his ex-wife. He paid child support directly to his ex for years without going through the court and one day his ex got a bug up her ass and went to the "Friend Of The Court". What sucks is that he had to go back and pay ALL of the money over again even though he had all of his checking records of what he paid and when, they said that it wasn't good because he didn't go through them.
I guess that if you wanna risk it to save some money, then go for it, maybe the mother of your child is decent, but if it ever ends up going through the courts, the same thing could happen to you.
