Six snowmobilers from the South Shore guided their vehicles on to the streets of downtown Montreal Sunday night to hold an impromptu race.
One of the drivers was arrested and slapped with a $148 fine. The others fled the police.
According to police, the six drivers took advantage of the heavy snow falling in the region to drive their snowmobiles over the Mercier Bridge. They then drove to de Maionneuve Blvd. West where they held an impromptu road race near Crescent Street in front of several surprised pedestrians.
It is illegal to drive a snowmobile on city streets except during very specific circumstances.
The 37-year-old man who was arrested also took a breathalyzer test, but there was no sign of alchohol in his system.
