Timing in history seems to be relevant :-) We have, basically a rogue regime "mis-managing" the US and who has rarely respected any international law during the past few years.
Sure, he is not bound by any US laws, tho he is currently in a country which is undoubtedly under US occupation. Read that to mean - "anything can happen" :-)
The US govt has opposed any form of international criminal courts and has bribed serveral nations in an attempt to do the same.
The UN does not currently have any jurisdiction in Iraq until member states decide otherwise. The UN does not have "military tribunals" - they have full publicly open court proceedings.
It would be more than embarassing to hear from Council representing Saddam of his history of involvement in crimes against humanity that were enabled and implented on behalf of the United States.
Saddam will not, least at this time, have any form of "normal trial"
