I come from the most dysfunctional wacky family in the US. My mom is the only normal one.. everyone else is a fuckin lunatic. But yeah they do the same shit with us. They will say a week later, "uncle Sonny was visiting from Texas, we had a party for him at aunt Lorraine's". Meanwhile we weren't even told he was visiting, much less invited to the party. My family does that shit because they are the most selfish assholes on earth. They don't want to share the attention with us... sheer jealousy. My grandmother is the queen selfish bitch.
There's no way you can get your family to start going out of their way to include you in what's going on... my family used to blame it on us being an hour away... they still did it when we moved 5 minutes away. I feel for you, I know how frustrating and disappointing it is.
