I go thru the same thing sometimes....my dad calls me one day and says "oh by the way your mom is in the hospital for surgery on her spine ..she has been paralyzed for the past month and they are going to try and fix it"...WTF! Although they did call me as soon as dad had his heart attack...I just think that no one in my family likes to be the bearer of bad news cause they know i will lose it 3000 miles away and sometime there is nothing i can do about it.
