You know I might object to this more if it weren't for the fact that more than half of my graduating class joined the military just to get out of the shit town we grew up in.
I am not a big fan of institutionalized military time, but then again there are a lot of shit heads out there that need someone to tell them what to do every day. I also think that they ought to put a good chunk of the people convicted of moderately violent crimes into the Army. Obviously these people need structure.
In any event, I would imagine that kids from rich families don't get drafted often, and when they do, they don't go to any combat zones, so I won't worry about my kids....
