It downconverts it to 2 channels so you have to choose dolby pro logic on the receiver.
The only way for it to work is if your receiver has 5.1 (or higher) analog inputs, so you can connect all the analog outputs of the sound card directly into the receiver.
Still sounds good though as dolby pro logic. Would be nice to have the rear sound separation though.

ah man, that sucks, to get the rear discrete channels I run a second amp just for rears. I am using all analogue myself. It's a pain in the ass to tweak two seperate amps to sound alike but I managed with the help of a 22 band EQ on the fronts and a 5 band on the rears and a shelving AND parametric on the sub amp
Right now all I am missing is a center channel that is discrete. So I'm in 4 channel mode on my sound card. Works kick ass for music and gamming, just wouldn't watch movies on the pc when I have a discrete 5 channel sound going on in the living room.
