that came with the realization that it was a war we could not win anyhow. We were letting politicians in Washington do what generals in Nam should have been doing, and tying one arm behind our back, with an enemy that was prepared to die for something they believed in, and we would have had to pave Vietnam in order to win there.
Nukes
may have helped, but there were too many rubber trees to be lost, plus USSR, China and Korea probably would not have reacted well.
