Would stupid spelling and grammar errors affect conversions?

A friend of mine hit me up the other day and wanted to show me his new paysite. Great, I love checking out new sites before anyone else sees them. The design was slick, samples were perfect, not too much shown but not so little that the surfer wouldn't be itching to see more. Then I saw something that absolutely makes my skin crawl...

"If you love shemales, your at the right place"

"More then 100 GB of videos."

I casually mentioned the errors and he thought I was being a grammar nazi. Fine, whatever. Do it your way. I was just trying to help. This morning he hits me up and wants me to take another look since his designer fixed the errors I pointed out. He did correct the errors but in doing so he caused more errors than existed before! Every instance of "your" had been changed to "you're" as well as a myriad of other new errors.

Once again I made a list of the errors and he said he didn't care anymore and would start sending traffic to the site as is. I don't know what is worse, the fact that the owner of the site couldn't spot those simple errors, or the fact that the "professional" designer made them to begin with.

Do surfers really care about this? I personally wouldn't join a site with errors like that on it, but that's just me. Do you think this will affect conversions significantly?
