To me, a personalized handwritten card is usually more meaningful than the gift. A gift is great too but I usually value the sentiment of the card more so. This year I've been on an electronics craze, I wanna get a PS/2 finally and lots of games. I got a nice little setup at the office now to play games, why I got it, who knows, that's the end of my SE career once I get the PS/2
