when i say GOOD, i mean GOOD.

for a project im working on, in the last week i have looked at dozens of sites, inside and out, and quite frankly they are pure crap. i dont understand how anyone retains members with sites that are:

1) nothing but plugins
2) never updated
3) full of content that isnt what the tour is about
4) full of upsells rather than actual content
5) shitty design and navigation

but then again retention isnt important to most of you. only the upsells are.

if youre a sponsor with sites that actually RETAIN and DONT fuck the surfer over, please hit me up. and dont try and sell me on your program. chances are im already a webmaster/member. just convince me that your sites retain and arent just going to fuck over my surfers.

yah, some of us still care that surfers are happy. but then again some of us have members retaining for more than the trial. novel idea huh?

and now for a rant...

several programs ive checked out may have 20+ paysites, but they all have the same backend. if i join a bear site, i get the same fucking content as if i had joined a twink site. this is especially frustrating for people who join multiple sites.

if i have a link to two sites by the same program on my page, and someone joins both sites (very common for my site/surfers) that surfer has officially been fucked. and they know it, because they arent stupid and can see that its the same content, even the same exact layout. then comes the refund/chargeback, and once again another surfer who will not trust me or join anything i promote.

and the opposite is true - some people only join one kind of site... one niche... ie, if i pay $40 to see 30 year old hairy guys, i dont wanna login and see 18 year old hairless skater boys. but then again, maybe im being too logical.

either way, i think that trying to make EVERY site a megasite is pointless. if youre going to buy every plugin on the planet, dont put them in ALL your sites. put them in the MEGA site. then put twinks in your twink site, bears in your bear site, etc.... most of you offer free access to your other sites for all your members anyway, so just link to the other sites, dont include all the same shit in every site...

and yes ill get bashed for this post/rant, after all, these huge programs MUST be doing something right cuz they pay $40 per trial join and the program owners are all rich. maybe so. but separate out the gay sites from the rest of the program, isolate their stats... im really curious to see if the gay sites would stand on their own AND do so well.

and i dont mean traffic/joins/upsells. we can all do that. i mean retention. are your members really worth $40? $80? $120?

instead of giving a member shitty content and then pushing them to buy something else, why not just give them good content and make them happy so they stick around? a member who rebills at $30 a month for 6 months is worth a lot more than one who cancels 10 minutes after his $2.95 trial starts, then buys an upsell $100 bottle of viagra. why? cuz he will never join another one of your shitty sites again.
