Oh yeah, when I bought my first car, the insurance was the equivalent of $2000 for a 1998 Citroen. A few months later I bought a new one, and it went up by $100.
Of course the idea seems to be, the smaller the engine, the lower the insurance (generally). Maybe you should get a Nissan Micra or Fiat Cinquecento, etc.
