Holy shit. Can't believe this is the first thread I see.
I've been getting everything set up, all evening. Got my turkey washed and already injected some marinade to set overnight. Measured my water to see how much oil I would need. Got everything set up outside and ready to go. Then it happened.
Dropped a 3 gallon jug of peanut oil on my kitchen floor, knocked a hole in the side of it, it spilled everywhere, and I then proceeded to cuss anything and everything in the house.
What a nightmare of a mess.
I even had to throw some clothes back on and go to the grocery store and get more oil. I *thought* $10 a gallon was expensive at Sam's. It was more than that at the market.
I do 3 1/2 mins per pound, btw. And I use a 14-15 lb turkey, and it's always delicious.
