I wouldn't worry too much about grandpa or your daughter if I were you. My own kids are mixed race. Back in the day I used to worry that someday they would run into some rednecks or something.

But over time (they are almost grown now) I have come to realize that things have changed. They are all extremely popular and well developed kids. Because of the MTV generation anybody who is mixed race today has elevated social status, at least in the white suburban high schools.

I think racisim if a thing that will die off with this generation finally. And I stopped worrying about my kids a long time ago. I think if anybody called them a racially insensitive word they would just laugh, and maybe not even get the concept.

At this point since racism in America it least is largely confined to the lowest classes just always make a lot of money and you won't have to come face to face with people like that.
