God, some people just push all my buttons and piss me off to no end. I'm white and in the household I grew up in expressing any sort of racist view was near enough the worst crime you could commit. Thank god for parents like that.
I know that I had great grandparents that weren't so open minded but we were taught about their views and told they were WRONG. At eight I found out that when my great grand mother (not blood thankfully, dad was adopted) died they found a Klan hood in her closet. It tainted any memories I had of her and I demanded - at 8 - that it was destroyed.
The point is that all it takes is one generation to stop the racist views from being passed down. In my own life I have unwritten rules for picking friends. If I ever hear someone who I am becoming close to make even a slightly racist comment I can't be their friend, just can't.
