That is true but not for all wars. Take a look at it from the point of view of a veteran instead of history books, TV, newspapers etc.
When you are in a war and you see death all around, woman and children blown to bits, atrocities committed by both sides and all the politicians do is send more men and woman to there death while they (the politicians) sit in an air-conditioned office earning a huge salary.
Looking back at wars that you fought in and trying to figure out what good they did then you realise there are very few wars that were necessary. That is why Veterans Day and guys like myself say the only thing that increases is the body count. We are talking about the specific ones we were involved in.
There are too many armchair critics sitting in front of their TV's, slippers on and a beer in the hand.
