Nevermind getting violent, that solves nothing. I would confront him and point-blank ask him what happened and what his deal is. If I didn't like the answer, I would tell him in no uncertain terms that he will never see his grandkids again in this lifetime should he ever open his racist hole like that. Then walk away.
If you do allow further visits, make sure you are there at all times. Leaving your kids with this kind of moron is not a wise idea anymore.
