your post is missing one small detail: What does Bush have to gain with a country under marshall law?
Really, when you think about it, nothing.
- he's already rich and will get richer when he leaves the whitehouse with book deals, speaking engangments ect.
- he's already the most powerful man in the world next to maybe Alan Greenspan and Zhu Rongji the prime minister of China
so what does he gain? Control maybe, he can shape the country into whatever he wants but in the end he will just end up dead. Also, there was a poll a while back that asked military people if they would fire on their own countryman in a marshall law type situation and 75% said no so he's going to have trouble convincing the military to do this.
I won't deny that we are losing freedoms. The patriot act is one of the worst laws this country has ever passed but I really doubt we are headed for a martial law state because in the end the people in power have little to gain and everything to lose.
