Yeah, it would be simple, if all you posted was 50-300 links. Start adding in archive pages, and the time it takes jumps up a ton. Once your archive database gets over 10k, you're looking at running the linkchecker on a few domains, or renaming copies of it, and running them at the same time.

Last Mother's Day weekend, I lost about 100k of traffic because of excessive gallery re-direction. Now, that not only cost me money, but I'm sure my submit partners felt a drop, too.
