Well,

The military was not exactly slashed in the Clinton years, funds were being used differently. Deployment was not being doubled. Soldiers and military personal were not as active in those years.

Currently, I am all for taking care of our soldiers. They are not the ones that I have a problem with. Bush wants more the military because he is putting them through a nightmare in Iraq.

More and more of them are getting killed. Many are depressed. Many have committed suicide. If that's what you call taking care of soldiers... Then I guess Bush has treated them so well, then less people are joining... More are quitting and saying they will NEVER return. Just wait until the active numbers drop. Retention will be low according to most surveys.
