It's not like it takes an hour to design a banner. Even if it took 30 minutes to do one banner (which it doesn't) that is still $12 per hour which is a pretty decent rate. Competition is getting crazy! I've been doing adult sites for seven years (mostly for myself) and now it seems like there's a new designer coming in daily.
I had one person actually OFFER me a job designing 3 paysites with an offer to do more if those three worked out well, said he was going to get content together for me, and then a few days later I asked him if he was about ready to get started and he said, "We're still deciding who to go with on this." and I never heard from him again. He'd actually offered me the job. Maybe he forgot? *boggle* And I gave him a price that was much lower than he'd actually offered me, just so I could hopefully have the edge.
Out of about 10 offers for work recently, I've gotten one steady job and 2 smaller one-time jobs. And that is with low prices and references, including proof of the ratios of some of my sites. Ouch.
