$2 million in digital cameras stolen
FRANKLIN, N.J. (AP) ? Thieves broke into a Kyocera facility over the weekend and made off with more than $2 million worth of digital cameras, the Somerset County prosecutor announced Thursday.
Prosecutor Wayne Forrest said the burglary occurred at Kyocera Optics building on Cottontail Road in Franklin Township, sometime between Friday and Monday.
He said the thieves appeared to have severed phone lines to disable the building's primary alarm system, forced their way through an employee entrance, and disabled a backup cellular alarm system. He said they then used company forklifts to load about 80 pallets stacked with cameras onto a vehicle or vehicles.
He said Kyocera valued the cameras at more than $2 million.
