but microsoft took a similar line of thinking in the past when they decided that they would highlight particular words on people's webpages and hot link them to advertisers of their choosing. That idea was shot down and caused HUGE outcry for basically the SAME REASON I'm complaining about this. it's one thing to advertise, it's another to ASSUME someone's endorsement WITHOUT that person's concent.
microsoft and yahoo do not, in the MIDDLE of your email, try and confuse the reader into believing you endorsed something that in fact you didn't endorse.
THAT'S WRONG. It's an intigrity issue. And it's why this thread exploded.

We added the words "GFY is sponsored by ADS:", so there's no way that anyone thinks it constitutes an edorsement by anyone besides GFY.
Look at how much money people make from in-thread advertising, it's OK for the board to get a little piece of the action.
