Thats what its like here, no one expects it, and if you do leave the change they look at you wierd. Also most often the tip here will go to the owner not the server. Here = Australia btw.
The times I've been to the US I have had good service 50% of the time, the other 50% its been shit, but it feels like you have to tip no matter what. I can understand tipping at restaurants, but I dont understand why you have to tip cab drivers? They get really shitty if you dont tip, even if they did nothing for you, half of them dont even say hello! Shit, in Australia if you give them a couple of bucks they will say thank you multiple times as you leave the car.
