Similar thing in AU, recently it hit the highest levels in a decade or two. In 2001 it was at $USD0.48, now it's hovering around $USD0.72. A lot of the hard work to increase my earnings over the past year has been shaved off by currency conversion losses.

$USD1000 in 2001: $AUD2083
$USD1000 now: $AUD1388

That's about a third down.
