During a c-section in 1987, they accidently cut my intestine. Wouldn't let me go home because the plumbing wasn't working right. Nurses kept telling me the pain (I have a very high pain threshold) was the c-section and I needed to walk it off. Finally after days of getting sicker and sicker (body was poisoning itself), they opened me up and literally laid it all out until they found the cut. I was in the hospital for another 10 days after that on liquid gold most of the time (losing 3 lbs a day).
I was actually very thankful that this had happened. As it was my newborn son contracted spinal meningitus and a staph hominous infection internally when he was 7 days old. If we had both gone home within a day or two after his birth, one or both of us could have died or he could have ended up severely brain damaged. I would have attributed my problems to healing from the c-section and his symptoms (which were mild) as being a cold bug of some sort.
