If you're going to be single homed you should just use cogent (@ about .10/gig wholesale).
These days there are plenty of multi-homed providers who offer very competitive rates - competitive enough to where if you are going to be single homed then you are looking for "cheap hosting", so providers who use single homed cogent, Gx or Verio bandwidth should clearly be the best choice for the money.
