I'm going throw some basketballs in the hoops and blame it on NBA Live 2004.

The boys told investigators they got the rifles from a locked room in their home and decided to randomly shoot at tractor-trailer rigs, just like in the video game "Grand Theft Auto III."

got them from a locked room? what kind of lock did they have? a piece of string? lol

I'm pretty sure they will not win against rockstar, pretty hard to link a video game to real life.
