Sony to release world's lightest notebook PC

Sony Corp (news - web sites) unveils its new laptop computer VAIO NOTE 505 'PCG-X505/P,' which the electronics and entertainment conglomerate says is the world's thinnest and lightest laptop, in Tokyo November 12, 2003. With a shell of nickel enforced carbon mold, the Vaio Note 505 is less than one centimeter (0.4 inch) thick and weighs about 800 grams (1.76 lbs). The computer will go on sale on December 6 in Japan about 300,000 yen (about $2,760).
