About WeFunk
Professor Groove and DJ Static team up and break it down to the deep funk, underground hip-hop, and rare grooves on the weekly show WeFunk

Listening to the show

There are a few ways to get your WeFunk fix:

Internet radio (24/7) via our shoutcast broadcast

Show archive where you can browse, listen, and download past shows

Live radio/Realaudio broadcast every Friday night from Montreal

Mix CDs from our online store

History of WeFunk
DJ Static and Professor Groove began broadcasting WeFunk to Montreal in 1996, over the airwaves of CKUT (McGill University). The show aired biweekly for some initial shows, then settled into its prime Friday night party hours of midnight to 2am beginning January 1998. Within four months we were saturating the internet with shows served from our own independent server, and this grew into what you see now. We're still bumpin' Montreal every Friday on CKUT, while we bring the show to you 24/7 here on wefunkradio.com.

Is all that scratching, beatboxing, and MCing live?
Yes indeed. DJ Static is on the cuts, and we have a varied group of MCs and beatboxers that drop by the show.

We know what you sound like... so what do you look like?

I notice the show archive skips over a few shows, what's up with that?
A few shows just didn't get recorded, due to technical problems or moments of personal ineptitude. Hey, we're allowed a mistake now and then.

You guys should get a 128kbps stream.
Yeah, of course that would be nice. But it does sound pretty good at 64kbps. Bear in mind that audio takes up a lot of bandwidth, and with our current listenership we already move huge amounts of data each day. A higher bitrate would mean more skips and slower downloads for you. Still hungry for the highest quality? Buy a mix CD and get a crystal clear recording of our dusty old records!
