Nixon had nothing on bush when it comes to twisting things. At least nixon and others stated a few truths occassionally, but bush and his handlers seem to be nothing short of pathological liars. Again, they generally dont lie literally, they mostly just distort and mislead. Although in my opinion deception is the same even if its not technically a lie. I have followed politics a long long time and really cant recall an administration who did it more. The reason may be that its because the press has allowed them to get away with it so much. After 9-11, the press seemed to take the same attitude as conservatives, ie that criticizing bush was tantamount to being anti american. Add in the consolodation of the media into such a small number of almost all conservative owners now, and also the clear message this administration has sent to reporters who make waves. They all know what ari fleisher said about being careful what kind of questions to ask and they all saw what happened to helen thomas on the whitehouse press corp for daring to ask tough questions. What you have now is a press that has basically enabled them, something nixon reagan, johnson etc could only dream about.
As for your question about the difference between lying under oath about a blowjob (in a politically motivated lawsuit) and lying about a war, clintons lying didnt result in thousands of deaths. Simply asking such a question implies stupidity. You should really think about that old saying; Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are stupid than open it and remove all doubt.
