Westchester man injured while hunting
PINE PLAINS -- A 32-year-old Tarrytown man was transported to a Connecticut hospital after an apparent hunting accident at the Mashomack Preserve Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Andrew Shipman was shot with a 12-gauge shotgun allegedly fired by an acquaintance, Brian M. Gillott, 30, of Old Greenwich, Conn., according to state police in Rhinebeck.
The pair were hunting quail when the shots were fired, hitting Shipman from his chin down to his leg, police said.
Shipman was taken by private vehicle to Sharon Hospital in Sharon, Conn., where he was expected to undergo surgery to remove the pellets. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.
The investigation is continuing and no criminal charges have been filed.
