User has IP address ---> internet connection ---> proxy with alternate IP address ---> referenced link, etc.

User could be replaced with software called "hitbot" to automate the cycling of proxies, which create false hits from 10s, 100s or even 1000s of IP addresses. This is called cheating and trying it could get you banned from an affiliate program, flamed on GFY, blacklisted in general or beat the fuck up if you cheat someone that lives close by.

Don't cheat.
