I'd be sweating bullets if a segment like that was aired on a local station about my work! Not because I'm camera shy, to the contrary, I've made more television and radio appearances about my work than I can bother counting. It's the entire slant given to it and the timing.

The bias of the piece is obvious; they did a sensationalized "investigation" of "local pornographers" "in answer to numerous complaints". You were interviewed only to get the juicy sound bites that were pulled out of context (Oh, and though your photographer may have made more damaging statements, he at least looked at the camera while he made them, giving the appearance of openness and honesty), to place alongside the negative statements made by college coeds and to put you in the next-to-the-worst light possible (they at least didn't try to wave the kiddie porn banner over your head).

But it did focus on the subjects of your work being "drunk", the pictures being used "without consent or knowlege", previous complaints by the subjects being acknowleged and you being so successful at this that you're now considering branching out into DVDs. It ended with the statement that you haven't been sued, yet.

Bad news CAN be exactly that, and that goes double when you realize that they didn't wait until next month to air it. It may well be a lead in to a "sweeps week" scoop- "we interviewed the defendents only a few weeks ago"...
