I'm sure I've built several hundred over the years... I haven't had the time to do it in the last six months though as my other projects have taken all of my time!
Yes, I definately list all my freesites on hoes.com, and yes, I follow my own rules :-)
When I was building them, I did 5 a week. One a day and skipping the weekends. I found that having a schedule really helped!
If you decide to start a regimine of freesite building, definately test the waters for a while to make sure all of the linklists you are submitting to actually accept them. Once you've proven that they get accepted, you can start submitting one a day to them and most likely all of them will be picked up. Just try to make them all slightly unique. Templates are fine, but use different graphics, font styles to make them more random looking. You can always go back and use a template you've used before after about a month. The linklist reviewers will never remember it!
Also, many linklist webmasters including myself are more than happy to answer questions regarding why a site wasn't accepted and to give advice on how to make it conform to the rules.
