acacia uses affiliates to refer to companies owned by your company. like gm owns direct tv. so directtv is an affiliate of gm.
but my local magazine advertises direct tv, and lots of local entrepreneurs sell direct tv for a comission. that makes them "advertisers" and "comissioned sales reps"... not affiliates.
the phrase "affiliate marketing" has gotten all twisted out of shape.

Yes, but an affiliate program still could have provided their affiliates details in order to cut a sweet deal.
