Doing something like that twice within a short period for a single customer means they would be taking a HUGE risk... if the customer leaves after the contract expires, they'll actually have lost money.
In all fairness, it's your own fault for not getting the thing insured.

Insurance was NEVER offered.
When I purchased the phone the guy at Radio Shack had to go through such an ordeal that many things were missed and I had to call Sprint to get it corrected...hell I didn't even know I could get it insured...seriously. I've only owned 2 cell phones in my life this was my 2nd.
Edited to add...my sister purchased hers on the same plan 2 weeks later...once again insurance was NEVER offered.
