Did any of you see the new AOL commercial last night with Sting?

For those that didn't see it, here is how it goes:

The commercial starts with several people getting instant messages from screenname stingfan01 promoting Stings new song and music video.

At one point, one of the people asks their friend, do you know who that person is? The friend replies that they don't, but the person must really love Sting.

The commercial ends with a shot of Sting himself, in a car, sending the instant messages. Stingfan01 is Sting himself!

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that an endorsement by AOL of IM spamming? Sure seems that way to me. If Sting is allowed to IM spam, shouldn't we all be allowed to?
