Many people I know who have been on Atkins (and didn't cheat) said that mentally they felt much better and more positive about things.

Not even neccessarily an Atkins diet, but just a better diet in general will contribute to physical, and in turn mental well-being. Eating foods high in seratonin, such as shimp, and foods high in viatmins and low in fats, it's amazing what they do...
Here is a good article for you to read., damian, about the chemicals in your body, what affects they have and about depression and whatnot.. With a little research on the net and a consultation with a NEW doctor (preferably some kind of specialist with regards to diet), you would likely be INCREDIBLY surprised at the results.

Most people also don't realize that even something as simple as diet can affect our moods. Definitely worth looking into!
